APRIL'S AT NYE BEACH  749 NW 3rd St, Newport  Ph 541-265-6855

We have found April's to be a very cozy little restaurant, nestled in the heart of historic Nye Beach with great food/service. Loved the seafood cannelloni last time and still dream about the wonderful chocolate cheesecake I had! Have heard it's best to stay away from some menu items.

ARR PLACE  143 SW Cliff St, Newport  Ph 541-265-4240

I think that in Newport, our favorite restaurant is ARR's.   (The name stands for Amy, Robert and Rebecca....the owners and their daughter.)   The food is always wonderful...the dinner entrée changes frequently- breakfast there is a real treat and we've come to like Amy and Robert immensely.

We had breakfast at ARR's recently on Liz's recommendation and it was wonderful. We had the Sunday brunch special, risotto crab cakes. YUM. Rating:

We are clearly fortunate to have ARR's Restaurant in Newport. Far from being a tourist place, A & R share their passion for food in every plate they serve. For a special treat, try them for dinner as well as breakfast or lunch!  Rating: Unquestionably..................... !!

BLACKFISH CAFE  2733 NW Hwy 101, Lincoln City  Ph 541-996-1007.

This is currently my very favorite restaurant. Be sure and try the onion rings. The ambiance is a little bit austere and does not feel very private, but the food is worth it. When dining there recently we ordered the Parmesan Crusted Rockfish plate, and it was TO DIE FOR!  We were both so excited about it, that we convinced four people at the neighboring booth to order the same!!

THE JOEL PALMER HOUSE RESTAURANT  600 Ferry St, Dayton  Ph 503-864-2995

This is the restaurant I want to recommend.  If you wanted to plan a wonderful dinner on the way to Portland this place is not too far off the main road and well worth it.  It is the best I have been to in Oregon.  Details on menu, location etc. are all here on their site.  Rating:

THE SIDE DOOR CAFE 6675 Gleneden Beach Loop Road, Gleneden Beach  Ph 541 764-3825.

Located 5 miles north of Depoe Bay in the Eden Hall building. We love the atmosphere and the "fusion" cuisine. I always get a piece of the chef's Key Lime Pie...the best I've ever had!! I rate it

TINA'S 760 Highway 99w  Dundee, OR 97115  Ph 503-538-8880.

We have eaten at this restaurant for many years and have not had a bad meal. The menu is different from the routine restaurant menus. The owners and chefs are Tina Bergen and David Bergen. The prices are on the expensive side but worth it. The local wineries owners have dinners here. I would compare them to the Palmer house except they do not have the great location. Open from 5:00PM 7 days for dinner.  Rating:  1/2...because of the location.

WHALE COVE INN  2345 SW Hwy 101, Depoe Bay  Ph 541-765-2255 (This restaurant may be closed again)

If you want one of the most scenic ocean views while enjoying a nice meal at reasonable prices, go to the Whale Cove Inn just south of Depoe Bay.  Be sure to ask for a window seat. Rating:

October 2002. Whale Cove Inn was recently purchased by new owners, remodeled and reopened after a long closure, as you all may have noticed. My sister and I tried it for the first time last week, and it is every bit as good as it ever was! We each had a bowl of clam chowder and shared a halibut fish and chips plate! Both were excellent! I highly recommend the Whale Cove Inn! (They also make a gangbusters Bloody Mary!) Rating: (Saving Five for High End Gourmet!)
